Happy Smiles' Dr. Farland on WTOK
Dr. Taylor Farland speaks with WTOK about the life-saving benefits of starting healthy hygiene habits early.
According to the CDC, tooth decay continues to be one of the most common chronic diseases among children. That's why Dr. Farland says that starting healthy oral hygiene habits early can often be life-saving. Dr. Farland says, "There's definitely a connection between oral health and your overall health...there can be life threatening infections that can come through in a dental decay that is not being taken care of in a timely fashion...it can be lethal."
Regardless of age, dental professionals say the best ways to prevent cavities include:
- Brushing your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Flossing daily.
- Limiting sugary and sticky foods.
